Governor Brown Signs SB-1383 into Law at the Villages!
On Monday, we were most honored to host Governor Jerry Brown and Senator Ricardo Lara who signed SB-1383 into law at the Villages at Cabrillo. Known as the Super Pollutant Reduction Act, SB-1383 is a piece of progressive environmental justice legislation that will significantly reduce harmful black carbon and other pollutants by 2030. Not only will this legislation help to clean the air and protect the health of impacted communities but in so doing it will help to slow the pace of climate change.
Also in attendance at the bill signing were Senator Isadore Hall III, Assemblywoman Autumn Burke, Mayor Robert Garcia, Councilman Roberto Uranga, Councilwoman Jeannine Pearce, and Mary Nichols, Chair of the California Air Resources Board among others.
That a community like the Villages in West Long Beach was the backdrop for this landmark legislation is really meaningful and shows how much the Governor and our legislators care about communities like our own.
Many thanks to our property operations team for accommodating this visit on very short notice!
