Statement on the tragic death of CVC community member
We are deeply saddened by a tragedy that occurred on the campus of Century Villages at Cabrillo in Long Beach – the stabbing death of one of our residents on Saturday, November 19. The suspect, another resident, came to our security booth to ask for assistance and to contact the police immediately after the incident late Saturday afternoon. The suspect claims the stabbing occurred during an altercation. Officers from the Long Beach Police Department have arrested the suspect, who now faces murder charges. Police have confirmed there was no threat to the rest of the community as this was the result of a personal dispute. The well-being of our residents is paramount, and our residential services teams have been on-site since the time of the incident, providing support for our community members and partners and working with authorities. As the investigation is ongoing, we encourage anyone with information about the incident to contact the Long Beach Police Department homicide unit at 562-435-6711.
We send our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim, who had been a member of community for several years. We will continue to share updates about the investigation and the steps we are taking to support our community members during this difficult time.
