Century Villages at Cabrillo sends condolences to loved ones of recently departed resident
(Long Beach) – Century Villages at Cabrillo Executive Director Steve Colman issued the following statement Wednesday regarding the recent death of a Veteran resident:
“We are deeply saddened to confirm that an altercation between two roommates here at CVC turned violent and ended in the loss of life for one of our Veteran residents Sunday night. The other Veteran involved in this incident has been arrested by the Long Beach Police Department and remains in custody. This has been a tragic and horrifying blow to Century Villages at Cabrillo.
The safety and well-being of our entire community remains our top priority. To that end, we have notified every resident of this incident, and we will continue offering opportunities and resources for both staff and residents to begin to process and heal.
This moment is a first for us, and it does not define us. We are incredibly grateful to each of our partners at the Villages at Cabrillo for their compassion and support as we continue to work together to determine where we go from here.
In the meantime, we will continue to cooperate with the Long Beach Police Department’s ongoing investigation, and we will continue to communicate with our community regarding next steps and additional information as it becomes available.
And finally, we send our heartfelt condolences to the Veteran’s loved ones.”
