Frontier Telecommunications Transition FAQs

What is happening?

CVC is transitioning telecommunication services to Frontier Communications, including phone, internet, and television.  Subscribers will no longer be able to contract with CVC for these services and will contract for services with Frontier directly.

Why is this happening?

In the late 1990s, as the Villages was getting started, dependable third-party telecommunications services were unavailable at the property.  Accordingly, CVC established its telecommunications infrastructure to provide the required connectivity to its residents and service providers.  Over time, this infrastructure has become increasingly difficult to upgrade and maintain.

Fortunately, Frontier has recently extended service into the Villages at Cabrillo.  This will improve service, increase connectivity, and offer more competitive rates.

Who is Frontier?

Frontier Communications Corporation is a telecommunications company in the United States. It offers broadband internet, digital television, and computer technical support to residential and business customers in 25 states.

What is the Affordable Connectivity Program?

The ACP is a government assistance program that helps connect households to the internet they need for work, healthcare, school, and more. Qualifying families are eligible for free or low-cost internet service through credits up to $30 per month.

If I participate in the ACP, what’s my monthly rate? Is this a contract or a term agreement?

Once you’ve enrolled in the ACP, the standard monthly rate for Frontier Essentials Internet will range from $29.99-$154.99, depending on the speeds available at your address. After the application of the $30 federal subsidy for non-Tribal Lands, the monthly rate for service will be $0 to $124.99, depending on your internet subscription. This service is non-contractual and does not have a term agreement.

Why was my ACP discount removed from my bill?

The ACP requires that you use your internet at least once a month. If you don’t use your internet at least once every 30 days and receive a bill for $0, you’ll receive up to three SMS/email messages from us to confirm your usage. You must acknowledge your internet usage within 15 days of receiving the first notification; otherwise, your discount will be removed in the following month, and you’ll be required to pay the total cost of your internet service. In order to return the credit to your account, you’ll have to restart the process from the beginning.

What is the federal Lifeline Program?

Lifeline is a federal program dedicated to making phone and internet service more affordable for low-income households. This benefit provides eligible consumers a monthly discount of up to $9.25 for phone, internet, or bundled services.
