CVC breaks ground on the Family Shelter I and II projects
In late 2010, Century Villages at Cabrillo and its partner Catholic Charities of Los Angeles closed on $3.9 million in financing for the Family Shelter I and II projects. These closings included two separate $1.0 million EHAP/CD loans from the State of California along with $1.9 million in Homeless and Housing Program Fund (HHPF) funding from the County of Los Angeles. This funding is supplemented by a $500,000 Emergency Shelter Grant from the County of Los Angeles, $200,000 in grant funding from the Ahmanson Foundation, $200,000 in grant funding from the Weingart Foundation, and $40,000 in grant funding from the Dan Murphy Foundation. CVC broke ground on the new shelters in late January 2011 and expects to complete construction by early 2012. Click here to see an elevation of Family Shelter I: Family Shelter I Elevation
These milestones represent the culmination of years of hard work by many individuals and will result in the expansion of Catholic Charities’ Elizabeth Ann Seton Residence (EASR) program at Century Villages at Cabrillo. Catholic Charities EASR program provides much needed emergency short term shelter and supportive services for families in crisis.
